Written in 2014 'Disconnect' has taken it's time to be recorded ready for release. The track is perhaps the most personal song Aaliyah has ever written. Armed with dark, poignant lyrics and a simple melody in her head, she sat with her guitarist at the time to hum out the tune. Within ten minutes Disconnect had been written, its melody simple yet melancholy.

All proceeds raised from this single will be donated to the Asylum in Chelmsford, an original and independent music venue hosting a variety of talented and unsigned acts.

Disconnect myself
Its what I do
I learnt from the best
I was taught by you

Your bags are packed
But we don't do goodbyes
Just see you next time
Months go by

I don't want you to stay
I don't want you to go
Either way you're vacant
Or am I mistaken?
You say I'm too fragrant
I'm too outspoken
Cant you see through?
I'm just hurting

I just cant get through
You think I'm being cruel
I'd lay my life on the line for you
I'd never hurt you

I wouldn't want you to cry
But being around you
When thoughts cloud your mind
Feels like I'm watching you die

I'm just hurting
You are too
Protecting me, and I'm
Protecting you
Hold me high
Like I'm 5 again

I don't want you to stay
I don't want you to go
But you are too far down the road
Hurting me
Hurting you
Disconnect myself
I was taught by you
